Abstract:
The hATa-1_EHux autonomous transposon codes for a 1189-aa protein that contains the hAT catalytic core. Based on BLASTP, this protein matches only three proteins: XP_002786939, XP_002775683 and XP_002776903 from the Perkinsus marinus ATCC 50983 (also protozoan). By PSI-BLAST, these four proteins converge with other hAT transposases. in hATa-1_EHux, the catalytic core is defined as D410-D481-R590-F591-E1085, with unusually long distance between the second D and E: 603-aa. This transposon and its non-autonomous relatives contain unusual 5'CCA and TGG-3' termini. Target site duplications are 8-bp long.
