Abstract:
Harbinger2-2_ES belongs to a novel clade, Harbinger2, of Harbinger DNA transposons. This clade includes transposons present in protozoan (brown alga), fungi, choanoflagellate, and metazoans. Harbinger2-2_ES is a consensus sequence of a family of autonomous Harbinger transposons that were active in the red alga genome very recently. The consensus was derived from 3 copies >98% identical to it. There is not enough sequence date to define the 3' terminus of this transposon. HArbinger2-2_ES codes for the 363-aa TPase (2 exons).
