Abstract: The region of rat chromosome 4 (Rattus norvegicus strain BN / SsNHsdMCW, reference assembly RGSC_v3.4) located at 150441813-150766559 contains approximately 155 tandem copies of a pattern with average length 2171 bps. The RGSC_v3.4 assembly of the region includes a number of N-gaps and there are only 25 continuous segments suitable for building the consensus: 150441813..150457014 (x7), 150571950..150576291 (x2), 150580893..150587402 (x3), 150588044..150594550 (x3), 150627376..150631711 (x2), 150640535..150642704 (x1), 150735114..150741625 (x3), 150752372..150756712 (x2), 150762213..150766559 (x2). Nevertheless the other incomplete segments show a high partial homology with the consensus and correlate with period of general periodicity. This rat periodicity pattern is highly similar (> 70%) to the periodicity pattern on the 6-th mouse chromosome (IMPB_01) and lies in the same conserved synteny region. Both are located in the intergenic region between genes Hrh1 (histamine receptor H1) and Atg7 (autophagy related 7 gene). It is assumed that the periodicity is a characteristics of rodent genomes.
