Abstract: This is a composite SINE element: 1-94 nt is derived from 1-92 nt of TUBE3 element, 95-264 nt is derived from 1-197 of ALU-like element, the origin of position 266-301 is uncertain. Elements are ~78% identical to the consensus. We thank the Broad Institute Genome Sequencing Platform and Genome Sequencing and Analysis Program, Federica Di Palma, and Kerstin Lindblad-Toh for making the data for Tupaia belangeri available.
