Abstract: This sequence is very divergent from other horse L1s at positions 1-1295 (21-34% of divergence). The remaining portion of the sequence is ~94% identical to the L1-5_EC family consensus. Therefore, L1-5B_EC may have originated by recombination between L1 elements from different families.
