Title:
Autonomous Transib transposons from the hydra genome.

Abstract:
Transib-5_HM is a young family of autonomous Transib DNA transposons that were active in the hydra genome just a few million years ago (they are ~1% divergent from their consensus sequence). The consensus sequence was obtained based on a multiple alignment of ~20 copies; it codes for a 663-aa Transib transposase. Like other Transib transposons, Transib-5_HM is characterized by 5-bp target site duplications and short terminal inverted repeats.
