Title: SINE2-5_SP, a family of SINE2 retrotransposons in the sea urchin genome. |

Abstract: The genome harbors ~1000 copies of SINE2-5_SP elements that are ~85% identical to the SINE2-5_SP consensus sequence. The SINE2-5_SP looks as a product of recombination between SINE2-4_SP and SINE2-2_SP. Its 146-bp 5'-terminal portion is ~80% identical to the 5' terminal parts of SINE2-4 elements. The remaining portion of SINE2-5_SP is 83% identical to the 3' terminal portion of SINE2-2_SP.
