Abstract:
Appears to have been active relatively recently, given the large number of full-length, nearly identical copies in the genome that are >98% similar. Average similarity of copies used in reconstruction, to this consensus, is 98.9%. The corresponding LTR is deposited as ERV1_MD_LTR. The sequence has three long overlapping ORFs encoding putative integrase, reverse transcriptase, and retroviral aspartyl protease domains. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
