Abstract:
PegasusA is a family of autonomous DNA transposons that belongs to the hAT superfamily. The PegasusA consensus sequence was built from 4 copies ~3% diverged from it. PegasusA encodes the 499-aa PegasusAp hAT-like transposase (exons 312-600, 1347-2053 and 2317-2820). PegasusA is flanked by imperfect 16-bp terminal inverted repeats (4 mismatches).
