Abstract:
CATCH2I_DR is an internal portion of the CATCH2_DR endogenous retrovirus, which belongs to the BEL/CATCH superfamily. It is flanked by 99% identical long terminal repeats, deposited in Repbase as CATCH2LTR_DR, and is characterized by 5-bp target site duplication. Usually, internal portions of retroviruses from the Bel/Catch superfamily carry one long ORF that encodes gag, reverse transcriptase and endonuclease domains. Presumably, a false frame shift splits an originally intact ORF in CATCH2I_DR into two ORFs.
